About MuchoZuckoGames

A handful of browser games, a high-score board on each one, and a comment section underneath for arguing about them. Nothing to install, nothing to buy, no account needed to play.

The cabinets

Every game runs in a canvas on its own page. They are plain JavaScript modules, a few hundred lines each, drawing at a fixed low resolution that the browser scales up. No engine, no framework, no download.

They are all reimplementations of things that already existed, built to the conventions the originals earned. Where they differ from the original it is deliberate and the game’s page says so.

Scores

Each game keeps one score per player: your personal best, not every run. That is why nobody can fill the top ten with a single afternoon.

Scores are not verified and cannot be. They are reported by a game running in your own browser, so anyone willing to open the developer console can post whatever they like. That is exactly why scores earn no rep. Getting on a board is its own reward; rep comes from other people voting, which you cannot issue to yourself.

Rep

Every game has a score: upvotes minus downvotes. Staff and long-standing members count double, which is a deliberate thumb on the scale and not a secret.

Comments move it, at a quarter of the weight of a game vote. You never earn from your own vote, so there is no way to farm it alone. The games themselves are the house’s and earn nobody anything, so voting one up is a verdict on the game and not a favour to a person.

The art

Every cover on this site is generated from a seed string. There are no image files, nothing scanned, and nothing hotlinked. The cover you are looking at was drawn by an algorithm about ninety milliseconds ago and it is not a picture of anything.

Your face is the exception, and it is not ours. It is whatever picture your MuchoZucko account is wearing, because it is one account across both sites. Set it there and it changes here.

Ranks

Sysop runs it. Arcade Op hands out bans. High Scorer and Regular vote double. Player One and Player Two are everyone else.

Continue? means muted, and it is never a surprise to the person it happened to.
